John Chamberlain (1927–2011) was a groundbreaking American artist who first achieved renown for transforming car parts into sculptures in the late 1950s and 1960s. His twisted metal compositions brought Abstract Expressionism into 3D, blending Process Art and Minimalism.

Chamberlain’s work, ranging from miniature to monumental, was among the first to incorporate color as a key element in abstract sculpture. Throughout his career, he explored diverse materials like Plexiglas, resin, foam, and aluminum foil, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.
